It is a good idea to tell you home monitoring company that you are going in vacation?

It is the first time we are going in vacation since we have the home Security System. My concern is that if some employee knows, he can tell his buddy, so they can try to break in without any worry.
What good it makes if the company knows? They put you on a “watch list” or “code orange” or something? I don’t think so.

I would definitely not tell the security company. You may want to change the contact number for emergencies to your cell phone, etc., but don’t tell them why. Leaving a housekey with a trusted friend or neighbor is a good idea. If it makes you feel more comfortable, leave it with them in a sealed envelope.
