How to download a site backup

Perodically it's a good idea to take a complete backup of your site. This can easily be acheived by logging into cPanel and clicking the backups icon.

At the very top you will a link that reads "Generate/Download a Full Backup", click this link. You will now see the backup screen.

There are several options available for the backup destination, the easiest is to make a site backup and place it in your home directory. This is already pre-selected so all that's left to do is click the Generate Backup button.

Note: The backup contains a complete image of your sites files and databases. Once the backup is complete an email will be sent to let you know.

Once the button is clicked the page will refresh and the backup filename will be displayed under "Previous full backups saved in the home directory". Depending on the size of your site, a backup may take some time, you can refresh the page to check the backups status. While the backup is running you will (in progress) after the backup filename.

Once the in progress message has gone away you can click the filename to download the backup. Once the backup has been downloaded to your PC you should delete the file from the server.

Note: The backup contains a complete image of your entire site and databases. Once the backup is complete an email will be sent informing you of the completion.
